NEWS: Tiger Woods' Dad's Prostate Cancer Takes Toll on Son

Tuesday March 28, 2006
On March 21, Tiger Woods announced that he might not play golf for awhile, depending on his father's worsening prostate cancer condition.

After making the statement, he boarded a private plane to visit his dad in California.

Earl Woods, 74, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1998, and the cancer is now Stage IV due to metastasis. . The two are very close, and he is credited as a driving force behind Tiger's successful golf career.

Later last week, Tiger returned to finish the Players Championship.

Tiger's plans for the Masters Championship in two weeks are still up in the air-- he may miss the practice rounds or even withdraw from the event to be with his dad.

Our thoughts are with them.
