Ultrasound is a common examination done early in the process of determining whether you do or do not have prostate cancer. Ultrasound can give your physicians a much better idea of whether the prostate is enlarged or has an abnormal shape or contour. From this information, they can make better judgments as to what the next step should be.

Many men are anxious about undergoing an ultrasound examination, but knowing what to expect during the procedure and how it works should go a long way toward alleviating this anxiety.

There's more information about prostate ultrasound available which should help you to more fully understand this important test.
