Are Low-Income Men Less Likely to Be Diagnosed Early?

It appears so.

A recent study from UCLA showed that low-income men were more likely to have advanced prostate cancer at the time of diagnosis than more affluent men.

This isn't surprising considering that low-income men typically have less access to primary care doctors and to valuable screening tests such as the PSA test.

The full study will be published in the February 2009 issue of The Journal of Urology.
