A Veterans Administration hospital in Philadelphia has been fined an additional $39,000 on top of a previous fine of $227,500 for administering inappropriate doses of radiation to prostate cancer patients.
The hospital's prostate cancer brachytherapy program was recently discovered to have delivered incorrect doses of radiation to patients over a six year period.
The governing body that announced the fine, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, has also said that they may hold a public meeting to discuss further possible oversight of the hospital.
