Study Shows PSA Rises More Slowly in Men With Diabetes

Follow me on:

A new study from researchers at the University of Michigan has found that the prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels of men diagnosed with diabetes rise more slowly than those of men without diabetes.

The study, published recently in the journal Urology, showed that men with diabetes had less than half of the average annual rise in PSA.

If this holds true, it could result in the misinterpretation of a man's PSA levels and possibly missed or delayed diagnosis of prostate cancer.

This study is just one of many which as found links between diabetes and prostate health.

Great informative post. There is lots of info on PSA testing around at the moment and it is good to see it being discussed openly.
