DRE (Digital Rectal Exam)

Definition: A Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) is physical examination performed by a physician. He inserts a gloved, lubricated digit (finger) into the rectum in order to feel for bumps or irregularities on the prostate. It is part of regular screening for prostate cancer.
