Definition:

Lymphadenopathy refers to swelling of the lymph nodes. Lymph nodes may swell due to a variety of conditions. Reactive lymphadenopathy occurs when inflammation or infection results in expansion of the immune tissue that resides in the lymph nodes. Lymphadenopathy can also occur when cancer spreads to the lymph nodes.

With prostate cancer, lymph nodes in the pelvis are usually the first to swell. Sometimes, swollen lymph nodes in the groin or pelvis can be felt through the skin.
