Definition of Neoadjuvant Therapy

Definition:

Neoadjuvant therapy refers to any treatment that is put to use prior to the primary treatment in order to increase the chance of effecting a cure.

With regard to prostate cancer, neoadjuvant hormonal therapy can be used prior to surgery to increase the chances of the surgery resulting in total removal of prostate tissue.
