Definition:

A radiation oncologist is a physician who has had specialty training in order to treat cancer patients with various forms of radiation therapy.

Radiation oncologists attend four years of medical school, then complete a total of five years of residency training before they begin working independently.

Radiation oncologists treat many types of cancers, including prostate cancer.
