Alternative medicine for prostate cancer has gained in popularity in recent years. While alternative medicine has not been shown to cure prostate cancer, it can help some men to cope with emotional and physical symptoms.
What Types of Alternative Medicine Exist for Men With Prostate Cancer?
There is a huge variety of alternative medicine treatments that exist today. Some of the more commonly used treatments in men with prostate cancer include:
- Music and art therapy
- Movement therapy (sometimes in the form of dance)
- Relaxation (for example, muscle relaxation techniques or guided imagery)
- Meditation
- Acupuncture
Many of these forms of treatment may be able to help some men with anxiety or stress following a diagnosis of prostate cancer, during treatment, or after treatment.
It is important to discuss any new treatment regimen (including alternative medicine) with your doctor before starting.
