Definition: A flavonoid naturally found in plant hops (Humulus lupulus L.).

Xanthohumol is part of our diet mainly in the form of beer or beer mixed drinks, and is being studied for its protective effects against prostate and other cancers.

The concentration of xanthohumol in beer is very low, and researchers in Germany are working on ways to increase its levels in beer.

Xanthohumol is also found in such supplements as Zyflamend(r) (compare prices), which some report to have great anti-inflammatory properties.

Examples: I hope that the xanthohumol in this beer makes up for its taste!
